Ongoing: Easing Into Comfort
I've been following this theme in the Tuesday class since May. Having followed this particular path of discovery for several months, I've been reminded of how spot-on this phrase is, "Less is more."
We frequently suggest during lessons that you, “Just do what’s easy,” or “Only do the movement while it remains comfortable.” For each Tuesday class, I’ll continue to do my best to bring you easy, simple, pleasant lessons to do that still have the same power of transformation you find with all lessons.
Come explore these delicious movements that will accrue in a way that makes you happy to be a human!
The Center of Everything...
…is your pelvis. It’s the largest bone in your body. All of your strongest muscles are attached to it. It has the nearly magical ability to transfer force from two sources of input below to one above (legs to spine) and vice-versa. It is the most obvious reference point for one’s center of mass in a huge number of situations.
Learning to better sense your pelvis in terms of its shape and its connections, both direct and indirect, to the rest of yourself results in improving the role of your pelvis in movement (almost every large movement we do can benefit from more clarity regarding the role of the pelvis). Experiencing how your pelvis moves or provides support (and how it can provide support even while moving) will result in dramatic and long-lasting changes to your physical comfort, sense of well-being and overall feeling of capability in action.
It’s going to be fun! See you there?
Free Fundamentals or
Feldenkrais / Mindfulness
Generally, on the last Saturday of the month, I teach a Feldenkrais fundamentals class. This class takes place just once per month and is offered free of charge. If you are new to the Feldenkrais Method, this is the class to try out.
Generally, on the first and third Saturdays of each month (but not always so check the calendar you'll find by clicking the blue button below), I teach a special 90-minute Feldenkrais / Mindfulness class where we explore the synergies of mindfulness practice and the Feldenkrais Method.
In his article, "Learn to Learn," Dr. Feldenkrais offers instructions for how, and some of the reasoning behind why, we ask you to pay attention in very specific ways during ATM class.
