The free Fundamentals class will be an hour long with a question and answer period at the end. This class is geared toward Feldenkrais beginners so no previous experience with the Feldenkrais Method® is necessary. The classes will be pleasant, easy-to-do movement explorations that will help you to become more a confident and capable mover and provide a doorway to your journey to improving everything about yourself. 


Feldenkrais classes are a way to train yourself to become a more efficient, more capable, more comfortable human being. If you want to know more about the Feldenkrais Method, I encourage you to explore this website. Keep in mind, however, that you don’t need to know anything to join and derive benefit from the classes.  Feldenkrais teaches through experience so all you have to do is show up and pay attention. 


I want to make the Feldenkrais Method more widely available to more people and I’m trying to take any financial considerations out of the equation. Give a class a try.


What you’ll need to attend the class:  


  • Ideally, you’ll need a space to work on the floor that’s large enough for you to lie down full-length and with enough room to each side while you’re lying to spread your long arms to the side unobstructed. NOTE: the width is not absolutely necessary. If you only have a space that’s narrower than what’s described above, we can make that work.


  • You can lie on an exercise mat, a folded blanket or towel or even a yoga mat (though yoga mats are not ideal for some classes because of their “sticky” surface) or directly on the floor if that’s completely comfortable for you.


  • Have a folded towel or two or a throw pillow to put under your head.


  • Class works best if I can see you, so you’ll want to position your computer, tablet or phone in a place where I can see your entire body lying on the floor. However, this is not crucial! Get as close to this as you can. If you’re uncomfortable being on camera, you can leave your camera off and just listen to the instructions as long as you are okay receiving no feedback from me.


  • If you have not done Feldenkrais work before, come with an open mind, do NOT expect a workout or anything else that you might think of as “traditional” exercise and bring any questions you might have to ask at the end.

Feldenkrais / Mindfulness 90-minutes

Feldenkrais and Mindfulness are different practices with different intentions regarding what they attempt to teach. At the same time, the learning to be gained from each is incredibly complimentary to the other. My hope is that you will find, as I did, that your Feldenkrais practice will be enhanced by what you will learn from engaging in a mindfulness practice and vice-versa.  These twice-monthly, 90-minute classes will include one Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lesson and one (or sometimes two) 10-minute mindfulness meditations. I’ll teach the Feldenkrais lesson live each week and the mindfulness meditations will be led, via recording, by Sam Harris, author of several books including, Waking Up, which is the namesake for Sam’s meditation app. The kind folks at wakingup.com have given me permission to use Sam’s recorded meditation sessions during my classes.  The Feldenkrais / Mindfulness class will run indefinitely, generally on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month (check the calendar in the left most column on this page for this month's dates).
